raccoons and a skunk

OMG, I am totally not helpful regarding this, but I am so sorry to see this!
Yikes!
I think it's time for me to start searching Google for ideas. Last night, the skunk blasted something and the smell went through our bedroom so strongly that it woke us up!
Yiiiiiiiike!

Put some ammonia on a rag(s) and try and place it as close to their nesting area as possible. They hate the smell and usually leave the area. If they are nesting under your deck place the towels around the deck usually drives them out......Good luck....

Scream like a little girl, slam the door, lock the bottom lock and the deadbolt, then spend the next hour or so peeking out the window every 20 minutes to see if they're gone.

At least - that's the approach I took upon encountering a trio of critters on my back deck in a previous apartment. To be fair though, they didn't come back after that.

There are websites that sell coyote urine. Apparently, having the place smell like a predator deters them. Either that - or the fact that it stinks like bottled pee.
first thought? stop feeding them :D hee hee! my mom said the raccoons are visiting her back door because the cat food is out there. I looked out when we were there last weekend and was like Woah, it's a raccoon, and she went out there and scared him away.
I have a skink problem. I think I even have birds in my chimney. Those little guys are kinda cute though.
I don't really mind wildlife around the house. I just get pissed that they are starting to wreck things! And... last night, I walked out my front door and went face to face with a skunk who got all puffed up and looked like he was going to spray me at any second. We had a staring contest. I won. I was scared out of my mind because I didn't want to get sprayed.

I think I can see where they are getting into the yard, so I'm going to start by sealing off the inputs. The skunk has found a home under a room out front, so I'm going to seal that off as well - hopefully when it's not home. I might try the ammonia trick there, too.

Thanks all, for the suggestions.

They are so cute!!! Me and Chloe see racoons all the time when we go on evening walks.
i had/have the same problem... seems to correlate to the amount of edibles my neighbors leave accessible. it may not be possible, but i'd look for what they are eating. sometimes, however, it just seems that the critters find your place the best spot to procreate. :)

If you have a 22. rifle laying around there is this ammo called Aguila Super Colibri. Out of a rifle it sounds like someone clapping their hands. It works. I got rid of a squirrel problem this way.
