I used to live just four doors away from the tunnel they go though, the Roaring Camp Railroad run a couple trains a day on weekends. They've run passenger service between the redwoods in the mountains and the beach since the 1800's.
Right on the waterfront in Santa Cruz, CA. I guess I had never been there in the middle of a week day. This train just came out of nowhere, honking it's horn, cars pulling over to the side. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. It made me wonder... what if someone were stuck on the tracks... I don't think the train could stop.
